Our unique class experience
At Bogastow Meadow, our Tai Chi Gung classes offer a distinctive experience rooted in nature and ancient practice. We gather on a mowed path leading to Bogastow Brook, a tributary of the historic Charles River. Here, amidst great blue herons, red-tailed hawks, geese, deer, and over 100 species of birds, we become visitors in their serene habitat.
Connect with nature
Our classes are held outdoors, allowing you to connect with the natural world and its abundant life force, or Chi.
Embrace the Chi
We bow and show respect to each other and to the Chi that flows through all living beings, fostering gratitude and positive energy.
Find inner peace
Engage in four standing exercises that combine movement, breath, and focus to achieve deep calm, peace, balance, and mental clarity.
Who can benefit?
Tai Chi Gung is a practice for everyone. Whether you are new to mind-body practices or an experienced yogi, our classes are designed to meet you where you are and guide you towards your best self.
Inclusive for all levels
Tai Chi Gung is perfect for all fitness levels. While many of my students are beginners, I also teach experienced practitioners in various forms of yoga. I also teach seniors with varying degrees of mobility. All you need is a willingness to let go and aspire to become the best version of yourself. It is never the wrong time to invest in yourself.
The class flow
Each class begins with a warm-up routine lasting about 10 minutes. Then we do four standing exercises of moving meditations that connect us to the energy of the Chi. Throughout the session, we breathe through the nose into the navel and exhale through the mouth. This conscious breathing connects us with the Chi, allowing negative thoughts and emotions to dissolve, and empowering us to choose thoughts that manifest the reality we desire.
Teacher self-care
Our classes provide teachers with essential tools and practices for self-care, helping to reduce stress and improve overall well-being. Discover techniques to bring peace and balance into your demanding daily life.
Being a teacher for over 25 years now in middle and high schools, I know first hand the demands on the mind, emotions, body, and spirit of being a full time teacher. The stresses are real, and I would like to offer a special package of 18 dollars a teacher for classes, to teach them how to alleviate stress, anxiety, and frustration allowing them to stay passionate and productive as a teacher. We owe this to the children.
